About Donnie Winters
Welcome to my website.
Pictured at the top of the page is part of my journey in music. Playing with my brother in the Winters Brothers Band, then going solo for a while and singing with my Dad's photo in the background at a tribute jam. Now I perform with several bands as well as solo. Pictured on the right is me with my friend George Harper and his bluegrass/Americana band.
Lately I have been involved with a group in Nashville called Next Generation: Sons & Daughters of Country Legends, which is just as the name implies. We do an annual show during Fan Fair week with numerous sons & daughters. Through this association I've had the pleasure to play with Jett Williams, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Jr., Robyn Young, Melissa Luman, George Hamilton V and many others. Check out our Facebook page and watch some of the videos there. Next Generation: Sons & Daughters of Country Legends!
I was raised in a music family. My dad Don Winters was a great singer-songwriter, and sang back up and toured with country legend Marty Robbins for many years. Growing up, Marty was like an uncle to my brother Dennis and me. Marty even recorded 10 of our songs. Dennis and I later started up the popular Winters Brothers Band that toured along side bands such as the Marshall Tucker band and Charlie Daniels playing festivals and arenas aound the country. In April of 2000 I took my engineering skills to the famous Sutler in Nashville where I worked as the house soundman. I would often get onstage with my dobro or guitar to join in with some of the music city's best songwriters. When the Sutler closed it was a sad day, but the good news is that I moved down 8th Avenue to Douglas Corner and continued hosting an Open Mic Writers Night where I sit in with some of the acts. I also enjoy playing with Scott Rath, Willi X. Evans and Hillbilly Mardi Gras, and I perform at least once a month at Debi Champion's writers night at the Commodore Grille located in the Holiday In Express -Vanderbilt.
